The Granville Police Department is a part-time Police Department.
The only full time police officer is the Chief of Police.
Granville's part time police officers are required to work weekends, holidays, during town and community policing events, and when requested by command staff. All Granville part-time police officers have minimally attended a Reserve/Intermittant Basic Police Officer Academy through the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council or more currently the Municipal Police Training Committee.
Interested applicants must have completed the Reserve/Intermittent or Full Time Police Officer Basic Recruit Training Programs, they must also be CPR and First Responder certified, and possess or be able to optain a Mass License to Carry firearms, Class A License.
Candidates will be expected to progress through a series of interviews and subsequent background investigation.
The successfull candidate will be placed into our field training program for one year. At the sucessful completion of the field training program the new officer will be evaluated by the Chief of Police to determine his or her ability to perform patrol duties.
