        Granville Police Department Gets New Equipment

The Granville Police Department is excited to annouce that we have purchased two Laptop Computers that will be installed in the cruisers in the upcoming days.

The laptops will have wireless capabality that will assist Officer's in the field on motor vehicle stops, suspicious persons, and when a report has to be completed  officer's can type their reports in the cruiser to give them more time in the field, and increased visiblity.

In addition to the purchase of the Laptops Granville Police Purchased a Dashmounted Camera that will record both audio, and video while Officer's are on Patrol.  After the install of the equipment any resident can stop by to see a demonstation of our new equipment.

               Granville Police Junior Police Academy

2009 Summer Junior Police Academy

The Granville Police is excited to announce a new program for our younger residents. The class is a week long and will begin in July. Each class is three hours long.

Officer's of the Granville Police Department along with Officer's from various other agencies will instruct the students on the history of Policing, duties of Police Officers, Team Building/Physical Fitness, Mock Crime Scene Searches, Fingerprinting, first aid, K9 Demonstrations, and tours of various other law enforcement agencies.

Students should be prepared to be active, and wear walking/running shoes. Please no opened toe shoes.

The Junior Police Academy will run for a week long beginning July 27, 2009 until July 31, 2009.  The classes will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m at the Granville Police Department. Students are encouraged to pack a lunch each day. The class is offered free of charged.

The age group for this class is 6 to 15 years old. The Granville Police Department is committed to reach our to our youth residents.

GPD Employment

The Granville Police Department is currently hiring Police Officers to work Part-Time and who are certified by the MCJTC.

Applicants must have completed the Reserve/Intermittent or Basic Recruit Training Programs, and be CPR and First Responder certified. Candidates will be expected to progress through a series of interviews and subsequent background investigation. 

Applicants must submit a resume, including Training Certification and three professional references to Chief Of Police Jose Rivera, 707 Main Road, Granville Massachusetts 01034.

                       National Night Out Against Crime

August 5, 2008 

Granville Police Department would like to say Thank You to the Granville Store, and Kevin and Carol Washington for their donations of ice and other ammenities.

Furthermore the GPD would like to say Thank You to all the residents who showed up and assisted us with the Anti-Crime message.

Over the course of the evening GPD did approximately thirty Child-ID Kits, performed some demonstrations, and was able to rally the community to assist us in fighting crime.

GPD National Night Out Against Crime

The Granville Police Department will be located on the Town Green on Route 57/Granby Road on August 5, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The National Night Out Against Crime is a Anti-Crime & Community Policing program.

We will be holding numerous demonstrations, with our cruiser's, ATV, Bicycle Patrol units, and much much more.

All residents are encourged to attend, this is a great way to meet the Officer's of Granville Police Department.

Beginning August 11, 2008 Granville Police Department and Law Enforcement Agencies across the Commonwealth will be aggressively targeting motorist who are suspected of operating under the influence.

The Granville Police Department would like to remind all motorist to think before you drink, and please seek alternative transportation if you've had one to many.

The Granville Police Department is committed to keeping our highways, and neighborhood roadways safe from drunk drivers.

                        Bear & Moose Sighting Increasing

The Granville Police Department has recieved mulitple calls from resident and motorist concering Bear and Moose Sighting in Granville over the past two months.

The Granville Police Department urges all motorist to travel the posted speed limits. These animals can range in weights of 400 pound and over 1,200 pounds.

The Granville Police Department urges residents to take in Bird Feeders early in the Morning and at Dusk, and to not leave food, or garbage unsecured in yards. Bear and Moose are opportunity feeders and if someone leaves out bird seed, garbage, you will probably have a visitor.

Finally GPD request all residents and motorist not to harrass this animals. If you observe a aggressive animal please dial 911.
